Carroll at Harlan

OT

Harlan 3

Carroll 2

After a penalty kick brought their game to overtime, Carroll was unable to close out their contest against Harlan in a close loss Thursday. It was the Harlan Cyclones that got their offense going in the first half with a goal at the 28-minute mark. The Tigers were able to respond as Clayton Weitl found Trey Hunter for a goal at the 11:26 mark. Harlan was able to break that 1-1 tie with another goal at the 8:20 mark, taking the 2-1 lead off a penalty kick. Carroll too found themselves with a penalty kick opportunity to tie up the game once again. Weitl was in charge of the penalty kick, and he was successful with 5:30 left in the first half, tying up the game at two goals apiece. The game stayed at that 2-2 tie throughout the second period and the game was brought into overtime. The Tiger defense did all they could to keep control, but Harlan was able to net the game-winning goal 4:16 into overtime, winning 3-2. Individually for the Tigers, Weitl was credited with a goal and four shots on goal, Hunter had a goal and two shots on goal, and Tanner Heitoff recorded 20 saves.

The Tigers return to their home pitch as they host their tournament on Saturday, May 7th.

Glenwood at Kuemper

Glenwood 11

Kuemper   1

The Kuemper Knights had a tough match against Glenwood Thursday, but had some bright spots to reflect on. Glenwood’s offense was solid throughout as they put up eight goals in the first half alone. Kuemper was able to net a goal themselves, when Isaac Evans got an unassisted goal before halftime, making it 8-1 in favor of Glenwood. In the second half, Kuemper did all they could to keep Glenwood away from a 10 point game-ender, but that eventually ended with two seconds left in the contest as Glenwood came away with an 11-1 victory.

The Knights round out their week of competition as they travel to take on Nevada on Saturday, May 7th.

Fort Dodge at East Sac

Fort Dodge 4

East Sac 0

The East Sac Raiders put up a defensively strong first half against Fort Dodge before the Dodgers were able to pull away for good in the second half in Thursday’s match. Fort Dodge’s offense was held off for a majority of the first half against the defense of East Sac until the Dodgers were able to break through with a goal in the first half. Despite allowing that goal, the Raiders did a great job of finishing the half and not allowing any more goals. East Sac Head Coach Sam Ellis was happy with the defensive effort in this game, especially in the first half.

The strong Raiders defense soon saw cracks appear as Fort Dodge was able to net three goals in the second half. The Dodgers were able to keep that lead for good and came away with a 4-0 win over East Sac. Elias Aragon was able to record two shots on goal while Luke Wernimont had a solid night defending the net with 24 saves. The Raiders close out their week of action as they travel to take on Atlantic on Friday, May 6th.

East Sac Stats

Elias Aragon: 2 Shots on Goal

Luke Wernimont: 24 Saves
