Brincks Exteriors Sports Report: Drake Relays and 8 Area Girls Track Teams Competed on Thursday

Girls Track Results Thursday, April 28th 

Kenzie Schon of Kuemper and Keira Hammen of South Central Calhoun At Drake Relays 

Kenzie Schon and Keira Hammen both performed well on Thursday afternoon as both finished higher than they were seeded. Schon was 6th overall with her best throw at 39-04.25 which was just shy of her qualifying throw, but was six spots higher as she came in seeded 12th. Hammen ended up 13th overall with her top throw at 37-10.25, just under her qualifying throw but good enough to move her up 9 shots from her seeding (22nd). Jadan Brumbaugh won the event with a 47-07.00 and Sydney Eggena of Denver was 2nd with a 42-01.75.

Carroll At Storm Lake Invite

Carroll claimed four individual championships and three relays titles on their way to the meet championship. Carroll scored 139 points to out pace Pocahontas Area, who finished 2nd with 109 points. The Tigers showed their depth in running events and field events, having 14 individuals place in the top 6 in individual events, including 9 inside the top 3, with titles in the Long Jump, Discus, 800 Meters and 100 Hurdles. Carroll didn’t let up in relays, finishing in the top 6 in 6 events with 5 of those in the top 3 and 3 championships in the 4×400, Sprint Medley and Distance Medley. They were also 2nd in the 4×100 and 4×200.

Marasyn Wittrock and Marie Dea were part of three championship relays teams. They teamed up with Hannah Jorgensen and Katelyn Aden to win the 4×400 (4:16.09), Madison Tunning and Shay Sinnard joined Wittrock and Dea in winning the Sprint Medley (1:55.00) and Kennedy Thein and Averi Burke were part of the winning Distance Medley (4:36.40). Wittrock started all three relays and Dea was the closer in all three races. Dea also won her only individual event, taking 1st in the 800 Meters (2:26.89) as the Tigers went one-two with Katelyn Aden in 2nd place. Aden was 3rd in the 400 Meters. Madison Tunning won the 100 Hurdles (17.23) and was part of a pair of relays that took 2nd place teaming with Shay Sinnard, Libby Perkins and Hannah Jorgensen in the 4×100 and 4×200. Shay Sinnard won her second straight Long Jump (17-02.25) and Hannah Jorgensen was 2nd in the 100 Meters. Vanessa Ayala was the Tigers other champion, winning the Discus (117-03). Julie Kanne continues her strong season, finishing in 2nd place in both the 1500 Meters and 3000 Meters.

Carroll will compete again on Thursday, May 5th at the Raccoon River Conference Meet at North Polk.

Ar-We-Va. Kuemper and Glidden Ralston At Woodbine 

All three of the area teams claimed a championship on Thursday with Glidden Ralston winning two individual titles, Kuemper won an individual title and Ar-We-Va claimed a relay championship. The Knights finished in 6th place with 35 points, followed by Glidden Ralston in 7th with 31 points and Ar-We-Va 8th with 29 points. The Knights had 4 individuals finish in the top 6 and Shot Put title. Kuemper was in the top 6 in 4 relays with 2 of those finishing top 3. Glidden Ralston had 4 individuals in the top 6 with championships in the 100 Meters and High Jump. The Wildcats had 2 relays in the top 6. Ar-We-Va was in the top 6 with 4 individuals, with 2 in the top 3. They place first in the Shuttle Hurdle which was the only relay they competed in.

Vanessa Koehler of Glidden Ralston had the most championships, winning the 100 Meters (13.20) and High Jump (4-10). Ellie Sibbel claimed the Shot Put (34-09.50) title for the Knights. Ar-We-Va continues to be strong in the Shuttle Hurdle, winning it with Jamie Hausman, Elizabeth Brunner, Amber Ragaller and Maggie Ragaller. They ran a 1:14.68. Kuemper was 3rd in the Shuttle Hurdle with Jemma Hoffman, Grace E Hoffman, Grace C Hoffman and Hanna Brincks. Kuemper also finished 3rd in the Sprint Medley with Catherine Mayhall, Kerrigan Irlbeck, Grace C Hoffman and Aubrey Heuton. Maggie Ragaller gave Ar-We-Va a pair of 2nd place finishes in the 100 Hurdles and 400 Hurdles.

Ar-We-Va and Kuemper compete on Friday at South Central Calhoun, Glidden Ralston goes to Boyer Valley on Monday.

Audubon, Coon Rapids Bayard, Paton Churdan and IKM-Manning At AC-GC 

IKM-Manning, Audubon and AC-GC controlled the meet on Thursday with the Wolves winning the title with 186 points while Audubon and AC-GC tied for 2nd place with 145 points. The Wolves had 10 individuals place in the top 3 and placed in the top 3 in 6 relays. Audubon was also very strong in individual events with 10 places inside the top 3. The Wheelers also had 3 relays finish in the top 3. Coon Rapids Bayard was 5th overall, scoring 42 points while Paton Churdan was 7th with 10 points. The Crusaders had 2 individuals in the top 3 and 1 relay finishing top 3. The Wolves won 3 individual events and took 1st in 4 relays. Audubon won 4 individual titles and 2 relays while Coon Rapids Bayard had an individual champion.

Abigail Zaiger in the 100 Meters (13.43) Madison Steckler in the 200 Meters (28.08), Hannah Thygesen in the 400 Meters (1:03.09) and Stefi Beisswenger in the 3000 Meters (11:46.59) gave Audubon four individual champions. The Wheelers also won the 4×400 (4:20.32) with Abigail Zaiger, Mattie Nielsen, Madison Steckler and Hannah Thygesen and the Sprint Medley (1:54.13) with Mattie Nielsen, Abigail Zaiger, Madison Steckler and Hannah Thygesen. Madison Steckler was 2nd in the 100 Meters, Mattie Nielsen finished 2nd in the 400 Meters. Other 2nd place finishes for Audubon included: Hannah Thygesen (800 Meters), Stefi Beisswenger (1500 Meters), Distance Medley with Abigail Zaiger, Madison Burr, Michelle Brooks, Stefi Beisswenger.

Abbigail Neilheisel won the 100 Hurdles (17.80) for IKM-Manning, Emmie Ring won the 400 Hurdles (1:14.80) and Amber Halbur won the Long Jump (13-10.25). The Wolves strength was in relays with championships in the 4×100 (55.54) with Amber Halbur, Sofia Fernandez, Bianca Cadwell, Abbagail Neilheisel, the 4×200 (1:55.44) with Amber Halbur, Madelyn Snyder, Abbagail Neilheisel and Sofia Fernandez, the Distance Medley (4:46.73) with Bianca Cadwell, Sofia Fernandez, Emmie Ring and Julianna Stribe along with the Shuttle Hurdle (1:14.45) with Abbagail Neilheisel, Amber Halbur, Emmie Ring and Madelyn Snyder. IKM-Manning took 2nd place in the 3000 Meters (Emily Albertsen), 4×400 (Taylor Beckendorf, Madelyn Snyder, Emmie Ring, Lauren Irlbeck), 4×800 (Bianca Cadwell, Hannah McKinney, Raegan Garrison, Kaitlynn Spoelstra), Discus (Jersey Bexten).

Miranda McClellan was the lone champion for Coon Rapids Bayard, winning the Shot Put (31-01.50). Breeley Clayburg was 2nd for the Crusaders in the Shot Put. Coon Rapids Bayard finished 2nd in 4×200 (Miranda McClellan, Lydia Hofbauer, Kadey Olson, Brynn Bass).

Paton Churdan scored in the 800 Meters with Bailey Anderson (10th), 4×100 with Kayla Sturm, Bailey Anderson, Haylee Duckett, Grace Cullum (10th), Sprint Medley with Kayla Sturm, Grace Cullum Haylee Duckett, Bailey Anderson (10th) and Kayla Sturm in the Discus (6th).

IKM-Manning and Audubon will compete Tuesday at AHSTW, Coon Rapids Bayard goes to Boyer Valley on Monday and Paton Churdan is at South Central Calhoun this Friday.
