Kuemper brought their A-game Thursday as they were able to sweep the Audubon Wheelers in Audubon. Despite the sweep, Audubon still had plenty of bright spots in their matches. Eli Deist and Jake Hausman went head-to-head in singles where they went back and forth for a while. Hausman told Carroll Broadcast following his match that his start was a bit slow, and his head wasn’t completely in the game, but he focused up and rallied to win 10-6 over Deist. Jake Lauritsen had some solid plays against Colby Pudenz where he utilized some cross court hits to get some sets to go his way. Ultimately, Pudenz was able to escape with the 10-4 win. Max Reincke’s day started with a solid win over Sawyer McClain with a score of 10-0.
In doubles, Hausman and Reincke teamed up to take on Deist and Connor Christensen where they ended up going to a tiebreaker. Christensen had some great ball placement and communicated well with Deist on many plays, while Hausman and Reincke were speedy and kept the Audubon duo on their toes. In the tie breaker, it was Hausman and Reincke who got up 4-1 and didn’t look back, taking the match 11-10. Sawyer McClain and Isaac Jackson from Audubon played well against Mason Reicks and Carter Runner from Kuemper, but the Kuemper duo was able to pick up the 10-6 win.
Coming up for both teams, Kuemper will compete in the Atlantic tournament on Saturday, April 30th, and Audubon is at Southwest Valley on Tuesday, May 3rd.
