Brincks Exteriors Sports Report: Kuemper, Audubon, SCC, and CRB Boys Golf Teams Win Meets Thursday; East Sac 4th at Newell Fonda

Boys Golf Results for Thursday, April 28th

 

Denison Schleswig, Lewis Central, St. Edmonds at Kuemper

From back-to-back CYO tournament titles a day ago, to another meet win, the Kuemper Knights were once victorious as they hosted Denison Schleswig, Lewis Central, and St. Edmonds. While the winds around tee off time were around 15 mph, that didn’t stop the Knights from winning the meet by six strokes with a score of 168. 

The top four golfers for Kuemper had great days overall, starting with Maverick Schwabe who was the best of the best, scoring a 37 and being named medalist. Kayden Schon had another solid day on the course, shooting a 43. Tyler Auen, Carter Putney, and Benicio Lujano were all on the same pace as they all scored 44 on the day. The Knights will have Friday off from competition, but return to the course on Saturday, April 30th as they travel with Carroll to Storm Lake.

Audubon at Griswold

On a windier day than normal, the Wheelers of Audubon competed well and walked away from Griswold victorious Thursday. At the end of the meet, Griswold put up a solid score of 203, but Audubon was able to beat that score by three strokes with a score of 200. 

Despite around 20 mph winds, Oliver Deist was still solid on the course as he ended up with a score of 46 and earned medalist honors. Jay Remsburg was right behind his teammate as he earned runner-up medalist honors with a score of 48. Edward Miller continued Audubon’s great day on the course by posting a score of 51 on the day. Evan Alt and Derek Bald were four strokes behind Miller, putting up scores of 55. Audubon is back in action on Monday, May 2nd when they host IKM-Manning.

South Central Calhoun at Alta-Aurelia

South Central Calhoun were the victors in a very close bout with Alta-Aurelia, Southeast Valley, and Storm Lake St. Mary’s Thursday. The Titans were able to edge out Alta-Aurelia and Southeast Valley for the meet crown by two strokes with a score of 182 compared to the other team’s score of 184. Storm Lake St. Mary’s was in the hunt with a score of 189. 

Justin Hanks stood above the rest after all was said and done, as he earned himself medalist honors with a score of 37. He did that with birdies on holes one and three and pars on holes five, seven, and eight. Bryan Steig was one stroke shy of being the runner-up medalist, but still golfed well with a score of 44. The wind played a big factor in golf with around 20 mph, but Nik Whipkey didn’t let that take over his game as he ended his day with a score of 49. Brady Schumacher rounded out the scoring for the Titans with a score of 52. The Titans are back in action this weekend on Saturday, May 30th when they compete at the OABCIG tournament.

ACGC, Perry, and Panorama at Coon Rapids Bayard

The Coon Rapids Bayard Crusaders put up their lowest scoring meet of the year as they edged out Panorama and ACGC for the win Thursday. The Crusaders shot two strokes lower than Panorama, winning the meet with a score of 175 compared to Panorama’s 177. Toby Benninger grabbed medalist honors as he shot a meet best 40. Jacob Estrada was a few steps behind Benninger as he ended his day with a solid score of 43. The winds were blowing well throughout the day, but Preston McAlister and Trey Rosenbeck had no issues putting up a score of 46 to round out the scoring for Coon Rapids Bayard. The Crusaders are off until Tuesday, May 3rd when they travel to Woodbine.

East Sac at Newell Fonda

The East Sac Raiders took on three Twin Lakes teams on Thursday when they traveled to Newell Fonda and put up some solid scores. Winds made a difference for some golfers at this meet, but Newell Fonda was able to buck the wind and win the meet with a score of 171. East Sac finished up the day with a score of 223. Brayden Burns came away as the Raiders’ best golfer with a score of 44, being two strokes off from being medalist or runner up medalist. Carter Hogrefe closed out his day on the course with a score of 54. Ryan Zimmerman stuck close with Hogrefe at the end of the day with a score of 57. Landon Graff rounded out the scoring for the Raiders with a score of 68. 

East Sac is back at Newell Fonda on Friday, April 29th.
