Brincks Exteriors Sports Report: Carroll and Kuemper take 2nd at Boys Golf on Saturday, Audubon and CRB Tie

Carroll At Denison Schleswig Invite 

Carroll had a strong day on Saturday in very windy conditions as they finished second at the Denison Schleswig Tournament. The Tigers nipped Atlantic by two strokes, thanks in part to their consistency between their top four scorers on the day. Bryce Berlau, Drew Munson, Will Ragaller and Conner Kirsch combined for 16 par and 6 birdies in shooting a 359. Lewis Central won the tournament in commanding fashion shooting a 343. Berlau, Munson and Ragaller all garnered at least one birdie while all four of the guys shot at least par twice.

Bryce Berlau was the top golfer for the Tigers, shooting an 85 to finish 3rd overall. Berlau was consistent, going scoring a 42 on the front 9 and 43 on the back nine. He was very strong on the back nine, picking up four par to shoot a 43. His front nine was lower with a 42 as he scored two par and a birdie. Drew Munson and Will Ragaller each shot 88 for Carroll, finishing in 7th place and 9th place respectively. Munson has been on a tear lately and shot really well on the front nine, finishing with a 37. He picked up two birdie and shot par on three holes. A couple tough holes on the back nine led to a 51, though he closed the back nine strong with a birdie and par in two of the last four holes. Ragaller shot a 42 on the front nine and 46 on the back nine but finished his day with two par and a birdie on both the front and back nines. Conner Kirsch was the most consistent Tiger finishing 16th overall while shooting a 49 on both the front and back nine. Kirsch went for par on holes 2 and 13.

The Tigers play  at ADM on Monday.

Kuemper, Coon Rapids Bayard and Audubon At Panorama Invitational 

Kuemper put together a nice round, dealing well with a tough course and very windy conditions. The Knights finished 2nd with a 366, 20 strokes behind Webster City who claimed the crown with a 346. Audubon and Coon Rapids Bayard both finished with a 416 with tying for 6th place. The Knights top four golfers combined to shoot par on 21 holes and picked up 3 birdies. Audubon top four guys had par 12 times and shot birdie twice while Coon Rapids Bayard top four scorers combined for 10 par and a birdie.

Maverick Schwabe of Kuemper paced all local scorers with a 84, finishing in 2nd place. He shot a 43 on the front nine, picking up a pair of par. He caught fire the final six holes on the back nine, finishing with a 41. Schwabe had 3 par and 2 birdie over the final six holes. Tyler Auen of Kuemper finished with a 90, shooting 42 on the front nine and 48 on the back nine. Auen had 4 par on the front and four on the back nine as well. He shot par on four of the last six holes on the back nine. Preston McAlister of Coon Rapids Bayard also shot 90, with a 46 on the front nine and 44 on the back nine. McAlister had four par on the back nine including holes 17 and 18. Carter Putney and Kayden Schon of Kuemper both shot a 96. Putney went 45-91 while Schon finished with a 49-47. Putney picked up three par and a birdie on the front nine while Schon had two par on the front and 3 more on the back nine. Toby Benninger of Coon Rapids Bayard finished with a 98, going for 45 on the front nine and 53 on the back nine. Benninger shot par twice on the front and once on the back, adding a birdie on hole 14. Oliver Deist led Audubon with a 100, shooting 54-46. Deist closed the back nine strong with four par and a birdie over the final six holes. Evan Alt of Audubon added a 101 with a 52-49. Alt shot a par on number 2 and 16 to go with a birdie on 14. Jay Remsburg of Audubon shot a 104 with a 51-53. Remsburg had three straight par on 8, 9 and 10 along with a par on 14. Gavin Smith of Audubon was their final score for the team score, shooting a 111. Smith had par on holes 9 and 16. Jacob Estrada shot 113 (50-63) for Coon Rapids Bayard and Trey Rosenbeck added a 115 (62-53) for the Crusaders. Estrada had a par on 13 and Rosenbeck shot par on 3 and 18.

The Knights travel to Harlan on Monday. Audubon is at Treynor on Monday and Coon Rapids Bayard host their conference schools on Monday.
