The Kuemper Knights split match wins against Creston and Ballard in their home triangular Thursday afternoon. Against Creston, Kuemper went 80-25 in sets and against Ballard, they went 27-79. Kuemper was impressive against Creston where they had only a few road bumps in their sets. Sam Janssen and Jared Hausman dropped the first set 6-4 but bounced back to win set two 6-2 and win the tiebreaker 10-8. Jake Hausman and Max Reincke had some back and forth in their first set, but ultimately won 6-3 and swept their second set 6-0. Luca Piccinini and Colby Pudenz were the lone duo team to sweep both sets 6-0.
Up against Ballard, the Knights had some success, but were unable to take a match from the Bombers. Janssen and Hausman went from their Creston match right into their Ballard match where they lost set one 6-2 but dropped set two 6-2 and ultimately lost 10-6 in the tiebreaker. Jared Craig and Carter Allman had a close set one but fell 6-4 and dropped set two 6-0. Mason Reicks and Carter Running had the best sets against Ballard as they nearly took set one but fell short by a score of 7-5 and dropped set two 6-2.
The Knights will round out their week of competition by hosting Atlantic on Friday, April 22nd.
