Glidden Ralston at West Harrison- Class 1A District 16
West Harrison 67
Glidden Ralston 36
The Glidden Ralston Wildcats saw their season come to a close as they took on Rolling Valley Conference opponent West Harrison Monday night.
The Wildcats and Hawkeyes went back and forth in the first quarter with Glidden Ralston holding on closely. Wildcats Head Coach Tyler Shipley says the game plan was to take away the Hawkeye’s big scorers and force other guys to beat them. That plan worked out well as they only trailed 9-6 going into the second quarter. Ethan Olberding and Cale Klocke were a good duo offensively, putting up 21 points combined for the Wildcats. The Wildcats success in the first quarter was quickly derailed as West Harrison went on a tear the second quarter. The Hawkeyes started hitting three-pointers and got points in the transition, putting up 25 points and leading 34-12 into halftime.
The Wildcats got on a bit of a better scoring streak in the second half, but so did West Harrison. While Glidden Ralston was able to put up 11 points, the Hawkeyes continued to pack on the points, extending their lead by 22 at 56-23 going into the fourth quarter. Coach Shipley says they kept West Harrison’s main scorers at their season averages, but their role players made the biggest impact against them. The Hawkeyes close out the game by putting up 11 points and taking home the 67-36 victory.
Glidden Ralston closes out the 2021-2022 season with a final record of 3-20.

East Sac vs Ridge View at Cherokee- Class 2A District 3
East Sac 63
Ridge View 56
The East Sac Raiders were able to use a solid third quarter performance to carry them to a close but earned victory over Ridge View Monday to survive and advance to the next round of the district playoffs.
The Raiders opened up the game with a solid 7-0 scoring run in the first quarter, led by Luke Wright who put up seven points in the quarter. East Sac took the early 13-9 lead over the Raptors. The game got dicey midway through the second quarter as Ridge View started to slowly take the game into their hands. They got closer and closer to taking the lead, at one point with 1:50 left in the half, and were only down two points at 24-22. The Raiders were able to widen the gap a little bit at the end of the quarter thanks to Cale Niehaus hitting two free throws to put the Raiders up by four at 28-24 going into halftime. Wright continued to play solidly, throwing down 14 first half points along with the team going six of 11 from the free throw line.
Ridge View got some revenge at the start of the second half, getting on a 6-0 run that gave them the 30-28 lead. The third quarter went back and forth from that point on, with Caleb Eichorn draining one of two three pointers to give the Raiders back the lead at 36-34, and eventually a momentum shift that kept the lead in their hands. East Sac finished the quarter with an 11-0 scoring run that gave them the 44-34 lead going into the fourth quarter. The Raiders continued to play solid basketball from that point on, but the Raptors almost had another scoring run late. With 38 seconds left, Ridge View hits a three pointer to cut down the East Sac lead to 59-52. That would be the last close call East Sac had as they closed out the game on a high note and eventually won with a final score of 63-56. Wright finished out the game with an 18-point, 10 rebound double-double, while Tyler Schmitt also recorded a double-double with 11 points and 15 rebounds.
