The Kuemper Knights wrapped up their week of competition with another conference matchup, this time against Creston on Friday night where the Knights fought hard but ultimately fell to the Panthers.
The Knights had a solid enough start in the first quarter where they stayed within four points of the Panthers lead at 12-8 going into the second quarter. Creston went from a jog to a sprint in the next quarter as they found ways to get around the Kuemper defense to score 19 points. The Knights had another good performance in the second quarter with 12 points, but still found themselves down 31-20 at halftime. Kora Thomsen was the early scoring leader for the Knights with seven first half points.
Creston continued their big scoring night into the second half and kept Kuemper to a game low eight points in the third quarter. Creston extended their lead to 46-28 heading into the final eight minutes of the game. Kuemper was finally able to outpace the Panthers 13-10 in the fourth quarter, but the large score built up from the second quarter on from Creston was enough to give the Panthers the 56-41 victory at Kuemper. Individually for the Knights, Catherine Mayhall had another good night with 17 points, five rebounds, three assists, and three steals. Akuet Malek had another big blocking night, leading the team with seven blocked shots. The Knights fall to 4-12 on the year and 2-7 in the Hawkeye Ten Conference.
The Knights return from the weekend break with a road game on Monday, January 24th against Spirit Lake.

The Audubon Wheelers had an eventful game against AHSTW where they recorded win number 11 of the season, are now on a two-game winning streak, and Jaci Christensen reached a career milestone, all on Friday night.
The Wheelers and Vikings had a fairly eventful first quarter. Audubon started off with a 5-4 lead that lasted up until AHSTW tied up the contest at 9 all. Audubon closed out the first quarter with a three pointer that tied up the game again at 12-12 going into the second quarter. The Vikings continued to play catch up with the Wheelers, tying the game at 17 and 20 points before Audubon was able to escape with the 26-23 lead going into halftime. The Wheelers’ offense had three girls in double digits for points, those being Aleah Hermansen, Madison Steckler, and Jaci Christensen.
The Wheelers continued to find ways to stay ahead of the Vikings, despite the score being tied twice more. AHSTW tied the score at 28 and eventually at 30 points by the end the third quarter but were still unable to take the lead. Audubon was finally able to get ahead in the fourth quarter for good after they were tied with the Vikings at 32. After that tie, the Wheelers went on a 9-0 run and eventually put up 24 points in the final eight minutes of the game. Even with seven ties in this game, Audubon found a way to spark their offense in the fourth quarter and escape with the 56-38 victory.
With her performance tonight, Jaci Christensen surpassed the 1,000-point career mark as an Audubon Wheeler. Carroll Broadcasting congratulates Jaci on reaching this amazing milestone in her playing career. She ended the night with a team high 20 points. The other two Wheelers who had double digit points in this game were Madison Steckler who had 14 points and Aleah Hermansen who put up 12 points. The Wheelers improved to 11-6 overall after this win and 7-3 in the Western Iowa Conference. Audubon returns from the weekend with a road game on Monday, January 24th against Riverside.

The East Sac Raiders were able to pull away against Alta Aurelia late by two points to grab their first Twin Lakes Conference win of the season Friday night.
Starting in the first quarter, the Raiders had a good start that saw them up 9-4 over the Warriors after the first quarter concluded. The Raiders had the dynamic duo of Meredith Brown and Carly Fischer to keep them alive in this game offensively as both combined to score 27 of East Sac’s total points. In the second quarter, Alta Aurelia was able to swing the momentum to their side as they’d outpace the Raiders 16-11 and tie the game at 20 points apiece.
The Warriors continued their scoring success into the third quarter and outscored the Raiders again. While East Sac had a strong night from the free throw line, going 15 of 20, they’d struggle from the field by going 13 of 46 or 28 percent from the field. The Warriors held the three-point advantage in the third quarter to take the lead at 34-31 going into the fourth quarter. The Raiders found ways to bring the momentum back to their side in the final moments of the contest. They’d outscore the Warriors 13-8 and come away with the close 44-42 victory. Individually for the Raiders, Meredith Brown ended with a double-double with 17 points and 16 rebounds along with six steals. Carly Fischer had a solid night with 10 points, three rebounds, three assists, two steals, and a block. East Sac gets their first conference win of the season to improve to 1-5 in the Twin Lakes Conference and 4-10 overall.
Following the weekend break, the Raiders are in for another conference game on Tuesday January 25th against Manson NW Webster at home.

The Glidden Ralston Wildcats had a solid first and third quarter that kept them in the game against Boyer Valley, but the Bulldogs pulled out some late game scoring that gave them the advantage in the end Friday night.
The first quarter for Glidden Ralston couldn’t have been better; they ignited their offense to get out 16-7 heading into the second quarter. The Bulldogs turned that score on its head and had a strong second quarter performance. Boyer Valley took over and eventually took the lead before halftime, outpacing the Wildcats 18-8 to take a one-point lead at 25-24. Paige Klocke once again was a big factor for the Wildcats’ offense, leading the team with 22 points.
In the third quarter, the Wildcats kept the heat on and kept pace with Boyer Valley. They’d ultimately outscore Boyer Valley 12-10 and retake the lead at 36-35. Despite the momentum being on their side momentarily, the Wildcats weren’t so fortunate in the fourth quarter. Boyer Valley shut down the Glidden Ralston scoring and outpaced them 12-6 to end the game with a strong fourth quarter scoring run, netting them the 47-42 win in the end. Individually for the Wildcats, Klocke ended with 22 points, nine rebounds, two assists, and four steals. Tiela Janssen was the other Wildcat to score double digit points with 13 points, along with three rebounds, three assists, and four steals. Glidden Ralston Head Coach Cole Corson adds the biggest difference in this game was turnovers. The Wildcats committed 30 turnovers in this game and only went 12-27 from the line. Glidden Ralston will fall to 5-6 overall on the season and 3-5 in the Rolling Valley Conference.
The Wildcats are in a non-conference matchup on Monday, January 24th when they play host to Grand View Christian.

The South Central Calhoun were unable to get a late game rally as they fell to Sioux Central Friday night in Twin Lake Conference action.
In a crucial game in the conference standings for the Titans, they started off with a strong start in the first quarter, leading 11-9 after the first eight minutes of the contest. The Rebels had a bit of a resurgence in the second quarter as they outscored the Titans 13-12, but still found themselves behind South Central Calhoun by a score of 23-22. Riley Batta was once again dynamic for the Titans in this game, but the closest player points wise to her was Addisyn Korleski who had 8 points compared to Batta’s 21-point performance.
The Rebels continued to ride their wave of momentum into the third quarter by shutting down the Titan offense, leaving them with three points. Sioux Central eventually took the lead in a big way at 33-26. While the Titans were successful from the free throw line, going 10 of 14, they’d struggle from behind the arc, going four of 19, while the Rebels did slightly better, draining six threes all together. The Titans had to make up for lost ground in the final eight minutes of the contest, and they’d end up having their best scoring quarter, as did Sioux Central. The Titans grabbed 16 points in the fourth quarter, but the Rebels was close behind with 14 points, giving them enough to stay ahead of South Central Calhoun to win it 47-42.
Despite the loss, Batta had a solid night for the Titans with 21 points, eight rebounds, two assists, two steals, and three blocks. Korleski ended the game with eight points, six rebounds, and a steal. Finally, Emma Anderson was an assist machine with eight assists on the night along with four points, four rebounds, and three steals. The Titans will fall to 12-3 overall on the season and 4-3 in the Twin Lakes Conference.
Following the weekend break, the Titans will return to action with another conference match up on Tuesday January 25th against West Bend Mallard.

The IKM-Manning Wolves put-up double-digit points in every quarter against Tri-Center but couldn’t quite pull out the win Friday night.
The Wolves got off to a solid start against the Trojans as they found themselves up 11-10 after the first quarter. Tri-Center flipped the script in the second quarter, not only grabbing the lead but getting up by five at 27-22. The Trojans rode their momentum from the first half into the third quarter with another 17-point performance. The Wolves stayed on track with another double-digit scoring quarter, but still found themselves in a hole by a score of 44-32. Despite their best efforts in the fourth to only be outscored by a point, the Wolves were unable to get a late game comeback and fell to Tri-Center 57-44. The biggest differences in this game between the two teams were their free throws and three pointers. Tri-Center sank six of their 11 three pointers while IKM-Manning attempted 21 three pointers and made none of them. The Trojans also went 15 of 20 from the free throw line while the Wolves went 10 of 17.
Individually for IKM-Manning, Bianca Cadwell recorded a team high 11 points and nine rebounds along with three assists and one steal. Abby Nieheisel had a solid night too with eight points, four rebounds, one assist, and two steals. The Wolves will fall to 5-9 overall on the season, and 5-7 in the Western Iowa Conference. The Wolves will return from the weekend break for a home game on Tuesday January 25th against OABCIG.

The Coon Rapids Bayard Crusaders had back-to-back nights going up against Woodbine, and in the rematch Friday night, the Crusaders were unable to get their revenge.
The Crusaders started off with a strong start against the Tigers, getting up by two at 13-11 going into the second quarter. Brynn Bass had a massive first half as she led the charge, helping the Crusaders get to a 33-20 lead going into halftime with 18 first half points. Crusaders Head Coach Kaitlyn McAlister says her team did another great job at denying the inside of the lane for Woodbine and putting pressure on them as well.
Woodbine had a strong start to the second half as they cut down the Coon Rapids Bayard lead significantly and eventually took the lead at 37-35. The Crusaders eventually found themselves down at 48-41 going into the fourth quarter. Brynn Bass was the beacon of light for the Crusaders, leading the team with 22 points at that point. Coach McAlister says the biggest thorn in their side was Charlie Pryor who hit another five three pointers in this game, just like she did a day prior. In total, the Tigers were able to drain seven three pointers compared to the Crusaders two. Woodbine used their big third quarter scoring run to keep their pace in the fourth quarter. In the second half, the Crusaders had significantly less trips to the free throw line. They went nine of 10 in the first half and only went three of six in the second half. In the final five minutes of the game, the Tigers stalled out in order to come away with a 61-50 victory.
Coach McAlister says Breeley Clayburg rebounded well in this game. Clayburg ended the game with a solid stat line of 13 points, 20 rebounds, and two blocks. Brynn Bass offensively was amazing with 26 points. The Crusaders fall to 7-6 overall on the season and 6-3 in the Rolling Valley Conference. Coon Rapids Bayard returns from the weekend break for a home game on Monday, January 24th against Ogden.

West Harrison entered the game on Friday averaging nearly 20 points per game and shooting under 25% from the field. They hit nearly 60% of their shots in the 1st quarter and scored 23 points, building a 10-point lead. The Rockets responded in the second quarter, after falling behind by 14 they got three free throws from Emma Stream, who finished 9-9 from the line and a three pointer from Carmyn Paup. The Rockets closed within 6 after another pair of free throws. Maclayan Houston responded for West Harrison with four points and the Hawkeyes closed the half with a 6-0 run and led 37-25 at half. The second half saw the Rockets get down by as many as 24 as two of their six players fouled out, forcing them to play the final few minutes five on four.
Paton Churdan had four players score in the game with Emma Stream leading the way with 19 points, Carmyn Paup finished with 18 points and 5 steals. Haylee Duckett nearly scored double figures for the second time in her career but ended the game with 8 points.
The loss dropped the Rockets to 0-10 overall and 0-9 in the Rolling Valley Conference. They host Glidden Ralston on Tuesday.
