Kuemper got a nice bounce back win on Friday after a tough loss on Tuesday. Michael Kasperbauer came out of the locker room shooting well. He knocked down three-threes in the 1st quarter as the Knights built a nine point lead. Defensively they came out sharp and kept the Panthers from establishing an inside game. Isaac Evans, back in the lineup was a big part of the change inside for the Knights. Evans finished with 12 rebounds, 7 of those on the defensive end. Creston chipped away at the lead and trailed by 4, heading into the 4th. Kuemper responded with several critical stops while taking over on the backboards. They held on for the win. Kuemper shot it well from beyond the arc, hitting 8-17 from three with Michael Kasperbauer and Michael Pottebaum combining to hit six of ten shots. The Knights shot 43.9% from the field, while holding Creston to 37.5%. Kuemper did a nice job of taking care of the ball with 6 turnovers, while forcing Creston into 15.
Michael Kasperbauer led the Knights with 19 points, DJ Vonnahme and Dawson Gifford each scored 9 points, Gifford added 6 rebounds while Vonnahme blocked a team high 3 shots.
Kuemper improves to 8-8 overall and 6-3 in the Hawkeye 10 Conference. The Knights take on Martensdale St Mary’s in the Gilbert Tournament on Saturday at 1:30 on 93.7 KKRL.

Coon Rapids Bayard avenged a loss to Woodbine from Thursday night when they struggled to get shots to fall. The Crusaders bounced back with a vengeance, getting off to a good start. After the first few minutes, the Crusaders began to attack the Tigers zone defense. Tanner Oswald was big early, helping Coon Rapids Bayard build a 31-17 lead at halftime. Woodbine adjusted on defense at half and through a few junk defenses at Coon Rapids Bayard and Tanner Oswald in the 2nd half. Gabe Obert took over at that point, scoring 22 of his 31 points in the 2nd half. Obert was able to get in the lane, opening things up for Easton Hays to get a clean look from three. The Crusaders defense was sharp, after an off-night on Thursday, their communication was better, helping them outscore Woodbine in all four quarters. The Crusaders hit 7-16 from the three with Oswald going 4-9. Gabe Obert finished 10-17 from the field. Coon Rapids Bayard hit 9-13 free throws.
Gabe Obert scored a team high 24 points to go with 7 rebounds. Tanner Oswald had 20 points and 5 rebounds. Easton Hays had a team highs with 5 assists and 4 steals.
The win improves Coon Rapids Bayard to 8-6 overall and 5-5 in the Rolling Valley Conference. They host Ogden on Monday on 93.7 KKRL.

Paton Churdan ran into a buzz saw on Friday in Mason King and West Harrison. The Hawkeyes lead the Rolling Valley Conference and showed why. King hit seven threes in eight attempts in the 1st quarter as West Harrison hit nearly 70% of their shots on their way to a 36-9 lead after the 1st quarter. Paton Churdan performed better in the 2nd quarter, scoring 13 points as Bradyn Smith and Parker Fitzpatrick knocked down shots, Smith had a pair of threes. West Harrison slowed a little bit but still led 54-22 at half. King went off again in the 3rd quarter, finishing with ten made threes and 40 points.
Paton Churdan had eight guys score in the game with Bradyn Smith leading the way with 9 points along with a team high 6 rebounds. Joe Carey hit a pair of 2nd half threes, ending the game with 8 points, 4 rebounds and a team high 4 assists. Shaydon Thurman added 6 points and 4 rebounds.
The loss drops Paton Churdan to 0-12 overall and 0-9 in the Rolling Valley Conference. They return to action on Tuesday when they host Glidden Ralston.

Audubon struggled on both ends of the floor suffering their fourth straight loss, falling to 5-11 overall and 4-11 in the Western Iowa Conference. The Wheelers trailed 34-12 at half after scoring 4 points in the 2nd quarter. Carson Bauer hit a three in the 2nd half, finishing with a team high 7 points, Jackson Deist and Edward Miller each had 4 points.
The Wheelers travel to Riverside on Monday.

East Sac won their third straight conference game with a strong defensive effort in the 2nd half. The Raiders controlled the game in the 1st half with Tyler Schmitt inside. He scored three buckets in the lane in the 1st quarter as they built a four point lead, heading into the 2nd quarter. East Sac sharped up on defense in the 2nd quarter, holding the Warriors to 4 points. They made good adjustments at half to help the inside game. It worked as they scored 18 points in the 3rd and 21 points in the 4th quarter. The Raiders shot 50% from the field and held Alta-Aurelia to 32.6%. The perimeter defense was even better as the Warriors made only 4-21 from three. East Sac won the rebounding battle 28-23. They forced 21 turnovers, with 16 steals while only turning the ball over 8 times.
Tyler Schmitt had a team high 22 points and 11 rebounds for another double-double. Luke Wright ended the night with 14 points and 5 rebounds. Cale Niehaus added 9 points. Aden Vondrak dished out 5 assists.
The Raiders are now 6-8 overall and 4-2 in the Twin Lakes Conference. They host Storm Lake St Mary’s on Monday.

South Central Calhoun fell a game behind Newell Fonda in the Twin Lakes Conference dropping a heart breaker on the road. The Titans trailed by 6 at half but rallied in the 4th quarter to send the game to overtime. The 3rd quarter had been good to the Titans this season but they weren’t able to take control against a good Sioux Central club as they both scored 18 points. The struggled from the floor, hitting just 25.7% from three, finishing 9-35. They went 29-75 from the field while Sioux Central hit 22-54 shots. The game was decided at the free throw line. The Rebels made 24-35 and South Central Calhoun hit just 5-8. The Titans lost the rebound battle 46-41 but did finish with 16 assists on their 29 made baskets. They turned the ball over just 8 times while forcing Sioux Central into 13 turnovers.
Joshua Dietrich had a big game with 26 points and 16 rebounds while blocking 5 shots. Eli Wheelock added 21 points, Gavin Batta finished with 14 points. Joe Clark had a team high 5 assists and was second in rebounds with 8.
The loss drops South Central Calhoun to 12-2 overall and 6-1 in the Twin Lakes Conference. They are a half game up on Sioux Central who is 5-1 in the league while Newell Fonda leads the league at 6-0. The Titans travel to West Bend Mallard on Tuesday.
