Audubon snaps a three-game losing streak, improving to 6-4 overall. Ar-We-Va drops their second straight and falls to 1-8 overall. The Wheelers used a big 2nd quarter to pull away, leading 36-14 at the half. The Rockets battled hard in the 2nd half and played their best defensive quarter of the season in the 3rd quarter, holding Audubon to six points. The Wheelers had nine different players score in the game.
Aleah Hermansen led the Wheelers with 17 points and was one of two players in double figures. Jaci Christensen finished with 13 points while Audrey Jensen chipped in 7.
Maggie Ragaller and Delaney Schurke paced Ar-We-Va on offense with Ragaller scoring 13 points with 6 rebounds and 6 steals. Schurke finished with 9 points. Sophie Jackson added 5 rebounds.
Audubon heads to IKM-Manning on Friday. Ar-We-Va is off until next week when they travel to LoMa on Thursday.

Tri-Center at IKM-Manning

The IKM-Manning Wolves were able to secure win number three on the season and in the Western Iowa Conference as they scored 50 points in a foul and turnover ridden game against Tri-Center Thursday night.
The Wolves didn’t get off to the start they wanted to as Tri-Center opened up with a 5-0 scoring run. That run was stopped before it got larger thanks to Bianca Cadwell draining a free throw. That started a strong run for IKM-Manning as Cadwell made five trips total to the free throw line where she went nine for 10 and allowed the Wolves to get up 16-8 at the end of the first quarter. Taylor Ferneding also drained a three pointer to further give the Wolves momentum going into the second quarter. Both teams entered the second quarter with seven team fouls each and plenty of errors as well. Tri-Center had issues with passing efficiently and IKM-Manning was struggling with ball handling, leading to too many turnovers for both teams. The Trojans got the slight edge over IKM-Manning with an 8-7 score in the second quarter, but the Wolves still led by a sizable 23-16. Ferneding nailed another three-point shot that led the team in that quarter.
The Wolves trimmed down their turnover and foul issues in the second half and had another solid scoring quarter. Tri-Center was being cut off multiple times by IKM-Manning in the passing lane as Ferneding and Macie Doyle did a good job of being aggressive on the defensive end of the court. In the third quarter, the Wolves took three more trips to the free throw line and went five of six to increase their lead to 36-26 going into the fourth quarter. Both teams continued to have foul issues in the fourth quarter as, again, both teams were in the double bonus in the middle part of the fourth quarter. Tri-Center’s attempts from the free throw line were rough as they went six of 12, while the Wolves were automatic going six of eight from the charity stripe. Despite the number of fouls and turnovers the Wolves created, IKM-Manning was still able to get good points in transition and come away with a solid 51-36 victory over the Trojans.
Individually, Bianca Cadwell led the team with 17 points and also had two rebounds and four steals. Ferneding had a solid night with 10 points, seven rebounds, an assist, and four steals. Mabel Langel led the team with five steals on the night. The Wolves will improve to 3-6 overall on the season and 3-4 in the Western Iowa Conference. IKM-Manning will round out their week of competition with another home game against another WIC foe, this time on Friday night, January 7th, against Audubon.
