Kuemper won their third straight Saturday afternoon with a quick start and a solid finish. The Knights built an early lead and stayed in front all game, keeping their lead around double digits in the second half. The Knights shot the ball well, hitting 54.5% from the field including making 8-20 from three point range. The defense created seven turnovers in the 1st quarter as Kuemper built a 22-13 lead. The offense shared the ball, picking up 20 assists on 30 made baskets. Greene County made run in the 2nd quarter, scoring 23 points, but they shot 35.6% from the field for the game and hit only 6-25 from three point range. Kuemper extended the lead to 63-51 heading to the 4th quarter.
Kuemper had four players in double figures, led by 24 from Dawson Gifford, who hit 10-16 from the field. DJ Vonnahme added 18 points, making 7-8 shots. Carter Putney finished the game with 11 points on 2-4 shooting from three point range and Carson Kanne added 10 points. Gifford led the team with 5 rebounds and 4 steals. Carson Kanne dished out 8 assists.
The win moves the Knights to 3-4 overall. They are home Monday and Tuesday this week against Heelan (2-2) and St Albert (3-2) and both games will be broadcast.
