Ballard At Carroll

Ballard 88

Carroll 77

Carroll couldn’t overcome a 13-2 lead and the big scoring night of Ashton Herman who finished with 42 points. Kaleb Booth did all he could hitting 10-3 pointers and scoring a career high 36 points. The Tigers trailed by as many as 23 in both halves and had it down to 12 after three quarters. They had two possessions to start the 4th quarter with chances to cut the lead to 10 or single digits with a three. They turned it over on both and Ballard turned that into 5 points, stretching the lead to 17 with 6:34 left in the game. Carroll showed no quit with Booth getting hot from the outside and Caden Kock not allowing any loose ball to not end up with the Tigers. Booth scored 23 of his 36 in the 2nd half and hit 4 straight shots from long range to cut the deficit to 11 with 34 seconds left in the game. Kock found Booth for a three late in the 3rd that cut the deficit to 11 at 63-52 but Heerman answered with a three on the other end. Turnovers hurt Carroll as Ballard turned most of them into fast break opportunities. Mason Gorsh and Colby Calvert helped Hermann as both scored in double figures. Every time Carroll cut the deficit from 17-18 points to 12-14 points the Bombers had an answer. Carroll gave up 29 points in the 1st quarter while scoring 24 points in the 3rd quarter and 20 in the 4th quarter.

Kaleb Booth was outstanding from beyond the arc, hitting then shots on his way to a career high 36 points. He added 5 rebounds. Caden Kock was everywhere for the Tigers and his energy helped spark their rally in the 2nd half. He finished with 13 points and 10 rebounds and kept finding a way to get to the rim on offense. Evans Hammer added 11 points and 6 rebounds.

The loss is the 4th straight for Carroll as they fall to 2-4 overall and 1-3 in the Raccoon River Conference. They look to break the streak on Tuesday at Bondurant Farrar (4-1, 4-1) as they wrap-up their December schedule.
