Brincks Exteriors Sports Report: East Sac Wins At Home, Glidden Ralston Falls on the Road Thursday

A 5-0 deficit turned into a 9-8 lead after the 1st quarter and East Sac pulled away for their first win of the season. The Raiders received a lift from their bench as Jen Aschinger, Lilly Boeckman, Kendall Quirk and Mckenna Steiger did a number of good things to keep the Raiders in the lead and then Carly Fischer, Meredith Brown and Mary Bontrager took over. The Raiders led by as many as 14 in the 2nd half. They hit free throws down the stretch and played outstanding defense most of the night.

East Sac opened the game with a 5-0 lead, holding East Sac scoreless for nearly the first four minutes. Once the Raiders got on the board they began to click offensively. Jen Aschinger provided some good energy off the bench and knocked down a three to cut the deficit to 8-7. Meredith Brown scored to give East Sac a 9-8 lead. Aschinger added another bucket before Carly Fischer drained a 3 and the Raiders were up and running up 14-9. The defense held the Falcons to 8 points in the 1st quarter but were better in the 2nd quarter. OA-BCIG scored just 5 points in the 2nd quarter and the Raiders led 20-13 at half. Meredith Brown scored just before half to keep the momentum with the Raiders. Mary Bontrager, the Raiders leading scorer this season hadn’t scored in the 1st half but East Sac led by 7.

Bontrager got going in the 3rd scoring 7 of her 9 points. Aleisha Thayer got a steal and bucket to start the 2nd half and then Kaytin Sagert who passed the ball very well all night found Bontrager with a kick out 3. East Sac was up 25-13. Carly Fischer hit a another bucket and Bontrager added a pair of free throws and East Sac led 29-19 late in the 3rd. Carly Fischer added a three to start the 4th quarter and Sagert found Jen Aschinger for a layup and the Raiders led 36-23. Sagert wasn’t done with the assists, she found Fischer a few minutes later to keep the Raiders lead in double digits up 38-26. Meredith Brown and Mary Bontrager salted the game away with some late free throws.

Carly Fischer had a season high with 18 points, going 2-3 from downtown. She added 5 steals as the Raiders defense was aggressive. Meredith Brown had a nifty double-double with 10 points and 14 rebounds to go with a team high 6 steals. Mary Bontrager finished with 9 points, 5 rebounds. Kaytin Sagert finished with a team high 4 assists. Jen Aschinger contributed 7 points and 6 rebounds off the bench.

The Raiders sit 1-3 as they prepare to head to Newell Fonda on Friday.

Glidden Ralston dropped their 2nd straight game on the road falling to 1-2 on the season. They started slowly down 21-7 at the end of the 1st quarter and were down 19 at half. Their best quarter was the 4th, scoring 12 points.

Paige Klocke and Tiela Janssen were both in double figures with 12 and 10 points respectively.

The Wildcats will head to Boyer Valley on Friday.
