It was a three point shooting contest in the opening minutes with Colby Rich of CAM Anita knocking down a pair and Tanner Oswald of Coon Rapids Bayard matching and then out dueling Rich early. Oswald scored the first 10 points for Coon Rapids Bayard as he put the Crusaders up 10-9. Easton Hays found Lance Clayburg and the Crusaders claimed control of the game for the rest of the first half. CAM took control of the boards in the 4th quarter getting too many second and third chances and pulled away in the 4th quarter to remain undefeated. The loss drops the Crusaders to 2-1 overall and 1-1 in the Rolling Valley Conference.

Tanner Oswald knocked in a pair of threes early along with a couple two points baskets. That matched the two-threes from Colby Rich and a three from Lane Spieker to give the Crusaders the early lead. Their defense pressure began to create issues for CAM Anita, causing them to struggle from beyond the arc in the 1st half. Meanwhile Coon Rapids Bayard moved the ball well on offense, picking up 5 assists on their first 9 baskets. Lance Clayburg found Gabe Obert to put them up 16-13, that was followed by a Tanner Oswald bucket and Raiden Doty finding Obert for another basket and Coon Rapids Bayard led 20-15 in the 2nd quarter. The Cougars quickly responded and Sam Foreman scored to cut the Crusader lead to 23-22. Easton Hays found Lance Clayburg to put Coon Rapids Bayard back up 3. The Crusaders stretched it to 5 but Lane Spieker hit a three at the halftime buzzer making it 27-25 Coon Rapids Bayard at half.

The late three seemed to lift CAM Anita energy level to start the 3rd quarter. Oswald hit a quick three to start the 2nd half and Coon Rapids Bayard was back up 30-25, CAM roared back, tying the game at 30. Colby Rich gave them their first lead since 9-8 with a three, making it 33-32. Tanner Oswald found Gabe Obert and Coon Rapids Bayard went back up immediately. The game changed leads five times over the next few possessions with Easton Hays putting the Crusaders up for the final time at 36-35. CAM led by 3 heading to the 4th quarter. Colby Rich got going from long range and the Cougars stretched their lead to 49-40 early in the 4th quarter. Lance Clayburg fouled out and Coon Rapids Bayard struggled to rebound after that as CAM Anita attacked the rim and got multiple offensive rebounds, helping them maintain a five to ten point lead the rest of the game.

Tanner Oswald had a team high 24 points and 8 rebounds. Gabe Obert added 10 points. Easton Hays finished with 6 points. Hays added 3 assists, tying Lance Clayburg for the team lead. Clayburg added 4 rebounds before fouling out.

The Crusaders are back in action on Tuesday at West Harrison.

East Sac raced out to the lead, getting the ball inside and scoring around the basket. Raiders led 10-4 with about two minutes left in the 1st quarter but the Raptors closed out the quarter on a 9-2 run. Turnovers helped the Raptors get back into the game and keep the lead throughout the game. The Raiders went to a 1-3-1 extended zone in the 2nd quarter and the Raiders struggled to get the ball inside. East Sac finished with 18 turnovers and enough of those leading to easy scores for Ridge View. The Raiders stayed within striking distance, down by four to five points most of the game. Head Coach Todd Bontrager says the Raiders executed their offense well when they got clean passes in from the wing or post. East Sac trailed by 3 at half and were down 4 heading to the 4th quarter.

Tyler Schmitt led three players in double figures with 18 points and 12 rebounds. Aden Vondrak added 12 points and 6 assists and Luke Wright finished with 10 points.

Manson NW Webster at South Central Calhoun Boys

Manson NW Webster 50

South Central Calhoun improved to 2-0 to start the season with a big win over Manson NW Webster Monday night.

The Titans got out to their large lead in the first quarter as they dominated 25-8 over the Cougars. South Central Calhoun had three big scorers in the contest who hit double digits, Eli Wheelock, Joshua Dietrich, and Tyler Lightner who led the team with 24 points and six steals. Manson NW Webster had a better time against South Central Calhoun in the second quarter, but the Titans still out-scored the Cougars 13-12 and led 38-20 at halftime.

Both teams had another close quarter with the Titans getting the better once again by a point at 21-20. As a team, nine different South Central Calhoun players ended up scoring points while they racked up 20 steals all together. The Titans put together a huge final quarter as they dropped 26 points and left Manson NW Webster with a mere 10 points, taking away the 85-50 victory.

The Titans will play host to Webster City on Tuesday, December 7th.
