State Cross Country Results 

 

Girls Class 2A

 

82nd Emma Schroeder (East Sac)        21:38.46

 

East Sac’s Emma Schoreder was the lone local 2A runner competing Saturday morning at the State Cross Country meet, where she ran well throughout the course. Schroeder in the first two and a half miles was hanging with a group around 30th-40th place, and completed the course with a final time of 21:38.46 in 82nd place. Schroeder caught up with Carroll Broadcasting after her performance and she said with missing two meets during the season, she had to work out outside of practice and show up at practice. She mentioned that the hills were a great challenge, but she was happy to compete at the state meet. Her interview with Carroll Broadcasting is available below this story. 

 

 

Girls Class 1A

 

18th Stefi Beisswenger (Audubon) 20:29.70

 

34th Emily Albertsen (IKM-Manning) 21:14.42

 

IKM-Manning’s Emily Albertsen and Audubon’s Sefi Beisswenger both competed in their first state cross country meet of their athletic careers and ran well. Beisswenger had a strong start and stayed around 25th place at the mile and a half point. She was able to catch up to a group ahead of her and ended the course with a time of 20:29.70 in 18th place. Beisswenger talked with Carroll Broadcasting following her performance, and she said with this being her first year of cross country, she was happy she decided to go out for the sport and she worked along with her coaches and runners to get her to this point. 

 

Albertsen was with Beisswenger for the first few meters, but ended up staying with a group around 40th place. She’d end up a few places ahead of 40th place at 34th overall with a final time of 21:14.42. She tells Carroll Broadcasting the hills were a struggle at times, but the roar of the crowd kept her motivated and able to compete well until the end. 

 

 

 

Boys Class 1A

 

45th Caden Keller (IKM-Manning) 17:45.84

Caden Keller of the IKM-Manning Wolves represented his team well at the state cross country meet on Saturday, finishing in the top 50 overall. Keller had a strong stride in the beginning of the race and found his pace around the mile and a half mark. Keller talked with Carroll Broadcasting after his performance, and he said the hills at the meet were difficult to run, but he was happy to keep pace with athletes from Woodbine and others from west-central Iowa. He finished the course with a final time of 17:45.84 in 45th place.
