Brincks Exteriors Sports Report: Audubon, CRB, IKM-Manning, ESC, and SCC Boys Cross Country Teams Compete in State Qualifying Meets Thursday

Boys Cross Country Results for Thursday, October 21st

Audubon, Coon Rapids Bayard, and IKM-Manning at Panorama

Audubon, Coon Rapids Bayard, and IKM-Manning competed on a cold Thursday afternoon in their state qualifying meet, where one local athlete placed well enough to qualify for the state meet in Fort Dodge.

IKM-Manning’s Caden Keller ran the best among the local male athletes, capturing a seventh place finish in 17:40, good enough to qualify him for the state meet next week. The Wolves had strong performances all around. Lane Sams finished just outside the top 15 in 16th place with a final time of 18:34. Nathan Johnson, Kasche Huehn, Josiah Conner, and Abe Polzein all finished inside the top 40 and within 30 seconds of each other. The Wolves as a team finished in third place with 124 points.

For Audubon, it was Jackson Deist leading his squad with a 32nd place finish with a final time of 20:20. Ely Deist and Mason Steckler finished right with each other in the same time of 22:35. The Wheelers did not have a team score as they only had four runners competing.

The lone runner for Coon Rapids Bayard was Corey Heithoff who finished the course in 64th place with a final time of 22:09. The Crusaders also did not have a team score due to having one runner competing.

ACGC and Ogden were the two teams that qualified for the state meet. Keller for IKM-Manning will run at the state cross country meet on Saturday, October 30th at 3:15. The meet will be held at the Lakeside Municipal Golf Course in Fort Dodge.

East Sac and South Central Calhoun at SE Valley

East Sac and South Central Calhoun competed on a chilly Thursday at their state qualifying meet in Gowrie, with some strong performances.

For South Central Calhoun, Tristen Blair and Eli Wheelock finished close with each other, Blair finished 51st overall with a time of 19:08.96 and Wheelock finished in 58th place with a time of 19:27.14. Tyler Lightner, Case Korleski, and Nathan Burley also finished closely with each other between 81st and 87th place. As a team, the Titans finished 13th overall in the standings.

Parker Engel for East Sac finished the best among the local male athletes at this meet, finishing in 27th place with a time of 18:11.24. Isaiah Aragon grabbed a 64th place finish with a time of 19:54.95. As a team, the Raiders finished 14th in the team standings with 363 points.

Des Moines Christian, Clear Lake, and Grundy Center/Gladbrook-Reinbeck finished in the top three in the team standings and thus qualified for the state cross country meet next week.
