Ar-We-Va and Paton Churdan At CAM Anita Tournament
Ar-We-Va finished the day 1-2 with a hard fought three set win over Orient Macksburg. Paton Churdan fell in all three matches against solid competition. Paton Churdan was the shorter team in all three matches and struggled to attack and block which put a lot of pressure on their back row. Ar-We-Va fell behind Orient Macksburg 6-0 in their first set of the day but rallied back to dominate and won 21-10. They didn’t match that intensity in set two and dropped it to force a third set. Their last two matches of the day where similar with tough first sets but settling in and pushing AC-GC and then CAM Anita in the second sets. The Rockets jumped out to an early lead and were very aggressive in the 2nd set against CAM Anita, forcing a time-out. The Cougars rallied and took the lead for good late and pulled out the 2-0 win.
Paton Churdan dealt with two taller and athletic teams in their opening matches and struggled to string points together. Riverside closed out their first set with Paton Churdan on a long service run to win 21-3. The Rockets tried to attack with their serve to get teams out of system but struggled to get serves in consistently. They had a nice service run late against Griswold in their final match of the day. They fought hard and put some pressure on the Tigers in the second set before falling.
Kora Obrecht and Maggie Ragaller were both in double digits in kills for Ar-We-Va with 18 and 12 respectivley. Obrecht had her best match against CAM Anita as she stayed aggressive. Jamie Hausman added 8 kills. Delaney Schurke had 42 of the teams 45 assists on the day. Maggie Ragaller led the back row with 18 digs, Jamie Hausman had 14 digs, Kora Obrecht 13 digs and Delaney Schurke finished with 10 digs. Timberlen Koch finished with 8 digs and 2 aces.
