East Sac was able to remain alone atop the Twin Lakes Conference by fighting off an energetic effort by South Central Calhoun who was playing for a share of the lead. The Titans came out the first set and gave East Sac all they could handle with a strong serve and aggressive play at the net. The Raiders settled in after nearly rallying to take the first set and won sets two and four handily while pulling out a tight third set for a 2-1 lead.
South Central Calhoun was crisp early and built a 8-4 lead in set one. Their serve gave East Sac trouble and kept them out of system. The Titans took advantage getting Riley Batta, Brenna McAlister and Keira Hammen good looks in the front and back row as they used a number of free balls by the Raiders to lead most of the set. The Titans were the aggressor and were able to hold on as East Sac tried to make several runs including at the end of the set, battling back from down 23-18 to trail 24-23. The Titans held on to win the set that had four ties and two early lead changes.
East Sac bounced back in set two, serve receiving better, which allowed them to get into the sets and get swings for Meredith Brown, Kate Vondrak, Paige Wuschel, Addison Ehler and Carly Fischer. The Raiders never trailed in set two and pulled away down the stretch winning on an ace serve by Mary Bontrager. South Central Calhoun did tie the set three times with the last one being at 8.
The winner of set three was certainly going to have the advantage with how the match had played out to that point and South Central Calhoun led early by as many as three points. East Sac battled back and tied it at 11 and took the lead at 12-11. The Raiders never trailed again, though South Central Calhoun tied it at 19. East Sac scored three straight and picked up the win on a Kate Vondrak kill.
East Sac ran away with the fourth set as a young Titans team continues to learn in pressure situations. Carly Fischer ended the match with a nice push kill into the left front which had been vacated.
Meredith Brown led the Raiders with 14 kills while Kate Vondrak added 11 kills. The Raiders got 6 kills from both Carly Fischer and Paige Wunschel and 5 from Addison Ehler. Wunschel led the setters with 18 and Mary Bontrager added 10 assists. Carly Fischer led the back row with 10 digs and Paige Wunschel finished with 9 digs, Mary Bontrager added 7 digs. Kate Vondrak had a team high 4 blocks and Meredith Brown finished with 3 blocks.
South Central Calhoun freshman setter Jayci Graeve picked up her 500th career assist on the night and finished with 25 for the match. She added 4 really well played dumps on the 2nd ball for kills. Riley Batta led the attack at the net with 12 kills. Sayer Steig and Brenna McAlister each had 7 kills and Keira Hammen finished with 5 kills. Kylee Schleisman had a team high 6 digs.
The Raiders can wrap up the outright conference crown next Thursday when they host Alta-Aurelia. They improved to 19-7 overall and 10-0 in the Twin Lakes Conference. South Central Calhoun fell to 18-14 overall and 7-2 in the Twin Lakes. They host Newell Fonda and Sioux Central next Thursday.

Coon Rapids Bayard played one of their best matches of the season, picking up their 6th win of the season. Paton Churdan battled and played better in set three but dropped the match at home in three sets.
Crusaders were balanced at the net with Mia Leighty finishing with a team high 7 kills, Breeley Clayburg added 5 kills and Mallory Leighty and Brynn Bass each had 4 kills. Gracy Johnson found their hitters and had 15 assists to go with 3 aces which tied Brynn Bass for the team lead.
Paige Teeples paced the Rockets with 8 kills while Emma Stream finished with 4 kills. Stream also had a team high 4 digs and 2 aces. Taryn Baugh added 2 aces and had 3 digs as did Carmyn Paup.
Coon Rapids Bayard improves to 6-12 on the season and 2-4 in the Rolling Valley Conference. The Rockets fell to 1-9 overall and 0-5 in the Rolling Valley Conference. The Crusaders host Exira-EHK on Monday. Paton Churdan heads to the CAM Anita Tournament on Saturday.

The Audubon Wheelers celebrated their seniors in their final outing from their home court Thursday as they played three close sets against LoMa.
The Wheelers got off to a good start in set one with a 3-0 run. The LoMa Panthers went back and forth from tying up the game to grabbing the lead. The set was tied at 3-3, 4-4, and 5-5, but after LoMa took the lead at 6-5, they went on a lengthy scoring run and held on tight to the lead, leaving Audubon to play catch up. The Wheelers got within two points of tying up the game at 18-16, but LoMa kept getting points to stay slightly ahead. Late in the set, the Wheelers were able to tie up the set at 23-23, but ultimately LoMa held on for the final two points and took set one 25-23.
Set two was a standstill between the two teams as it featured nine ties, all the way up until 16-16. The Wheelers got on a nice 6-1 run in the middle of the set, taking a 16-11 lead, but just like in set one, LoMa came back and tied up the set. The Panthers then got on a lengthy scoring run of their own, closing out the set by going 14-1 and coming back to win 25-17. While Audubon has put players in new positions in recent games, they did find their groove at times. Aleah Hermansen was a force upfront with five kills and a team high four blocks. Jaci Christensen also performed very well, recording a team leading 12 kills and 12 digs.
Set three was once again a back and forth battle between the two teams as they recorded a match high eleven ties. The Wheelers started to inch away from LoMa being up 13-8, but the Panthers continued to claw their way back to tie the set every time. The back and forth lasted all the way up until it was 25-25 where LoMa was able to put away the Wheelers to win in extra points by a score of 27-25.
The Wheelers will see LoMa again and other familiar foes as they will compete in the Western Iowa Conference tournament on Monday, October 11th.

The tough season continued for IKM-Manning as the Wolves dropped a three-set match at home to Riverside who picked up their 17th win of the season. The Wolves hung tough as they have all season and played well in the first two sets before coming up short. Riverside was able to pull away in the third set for the sweep.
Amber Halbur played well, leading the Wolves with 10 kills along with 6 digs. Jessica Christensen had a team high 10 digs, adding 3 kills. Taylor Ferneding dished out 12 assists and had 6 digs. Eryn Ramsey finished with 7 digs.
The Wolves fell to 1-23 overall and 1-8 in the Western Iowa Conference. They will play in the conference tournament next week.

Glidden Ralston and Ar-We-Va put on a nice show for the crowd on Thursday night with two of the four sets they played going into extra play. They split those two matches with Ar-We-Va winning the first and Glidden Ralston squeezing out the win in the second extra point set. The Rockets had a good night in serve receive and competed really well against a very good Wildcats team. Glidden Ralston continued to play well in nearly every phase of the game getting big nights from a host of players in every statistical category. They used their depth to win the first and fourth sets to pick up a 3-1 win.
Addy Boell continued her fine season setting with 35 assists to go with 10 digs. Boell found Vanessa Koehler, who had the hot hand and finished with 16 kills. Koehler wasn’t the only Wildcat to swing well as Paige Klocke and Lauren Hulsing each finished with 9 kills. Tiela Janssen paced the back row with 22 digs while Summer Toms added 12 digs. Lauren Hulsing had a team high 5 blocks and Alicen Dreessen finished with 3 blocks.
Maggie Ragaller led the Rockets at the net with 9 kills, Jamie Hausman added 5 kills and Timberlen Koch finished with 4 kills. Delaney Schurke had 17 assists to go with 14 digs. Maggie Ragaller led the Rockets with 17 digs and Kora Obrecht finished with 12 digs. Timberlen Koch paced the servers with 3 aces.
Glidden Ralston improved to 14-5 overall and 5-2 in the Rolling Valley Conference. Ar-We-Va dropped to 2-14 overall and 2-5 in the Rolling Valley. The Rockets head to CAM Anita Tournament on Saturday. Glidden Ralston will travel to CAM Anita on Tuesday.
