Kuemper picked up their sixth conference win and nineteenth win overall with a 3-0 sweep of Shenandoah at home. The Knights came out sharp in set one and won going away. They won a tighter second set and then had some cushion in the third set. The Knights hit .148 at the net and served 87.7% of their serves in, finishing with 12 aces and 29 kills. They averaged just under 9 digs per set. The win keeps them in 3rd place in the Hawkeye 10 Conference.

Kamryn Venner and Kenzie Schon paced the Knights at the net with Venner leading the team with 8 kills and Schon finishing with 7 kills. Ashlyn Badding had 28 of the teams 29 assists. Kenya Prescott continues to lead an improving back row and had a team high 9 digs. Kuemper was aggressive with their serve as was led by Daisy Haukap with 4 aces and Ashlyn Badding with 3 aces.

Kuemper improved to 19-6 overall and 6-2 in league play while Shenandoah falls to 9-12 overall and 1-5 in the Hawkeye 10 Conference. Kuemper travels to Atlantic on Thursday on 93.7 KKRL. Atlantic is 12-12 on the season and 2-2 in the Hawkeye 10 Conference.

The Carroll Tigers picked up an extremely close three set win over Boone Tuesday night.

From start to finish the Toreadors and Tigers gave fans an exciting three set game. In set one, the Toreadors kept the Carroll lead within arm’s reach, but the Tigers were able to escape with a 25-23 win. Carroll’s defense in this contest was a huge part of their success; they finished the match with 15 total blocks and 64 digs. Camryn Schable led her team with seven blocks and Hannah Jorgensen had great back row support and recorded 17 digs. Set two saw the same outcome, Boone trying to get the set two win, but Carroll grabbed a slight advantage and won 25-23. In the final set, it was another challenge Carroll had to overcome as Boone did not let up. It took extra points to get the job done, but the Tigers once again hung on for the set three win at 26-24.

The Tigers will improve to 14-12 on the season. The Tigers will host their own tournament coming up on Saturday, October 2nd.

            East Sac continues their strong season with their seventeenth win of the season as they swept the Jaguars on the road for their eighth conference win that keeps them a game up on Newell Fonda and Alta-Aurelia in the loss column. The Raiders were never really pressed on the night taking charge of the match with an aggressive serve. The Raiders finished with 5 aces but kept the Jaguars out of system with a 98.4% serve rate. The Raiders had 29 kills, taking advantage of several over passes. East Sac hit at a .178 at the net. The back row averaged 9 digs per set.

Meredith Brown continues her strong season with 10 kills and 10 digs, both were team highs. She added a pair of blocks, tied with Carly Fischer for second on the team behind Kate Vondrak who had 3 blocks to go with 7 kills. Fischer had a very good overall night with 6 kills to go with 7 digs. Addison Ehler added 5 kills. Paige Wunschel had 15 of the teams 23 assists and Mary Bontrager had the other 8. Wuschel added a team high 2 aces.

The Raiders improved to 17-7 overall and lead the Twin Lakes Conference at 8-0. SE Valley drops to 6-16 overall and 1-8 in league play. East Sac travels to Sioux Central on Thursday. The Rebels are 2-11 overall and 1-6 in the Twin Lakes Conference.

Glidden Ralston extended their most recent winning streak to three with a five set victory over Exira-EHK Tuesday night. 

 

The Wildcats went back and forth with the Spartans, winning a set and then dropping the next. They started off the match with a close, but good set win over Exira-EHK, winning 25-17. The Spartans roared back in set two and took over to win it 25-13. The biggest statline of the night for Glidden Ralston was their digs; in total they had 112 digs which kept them in the match until the end. Set three saw the Wildcats turn the tables on Exira-EHK with them pulling out a 25-13 victory of their own. The closest set of the night was set four where the Wildcats and Spartans went back and forth, and ultimately it was the Spartans picking up the set four victory at 25-21. In the deciding set five, it was another close contest between the two teams. Addy Boell gave her team great leverage setting the ball with 31 assist on the night, along with Paige Klocke and Vanessa Koehler recording 12 and 13 kills respectively, the Wildcats were able to put away Exira-EHK with a 15-11 set win to win 3-2 in sets. 

 

The Wildcats will have another home game on Thursday, September 30th, where they will welcome Paton Churdan.

Audubon continues to try and adjust to their new offense scheme as they try to adjust from running a 6-2 to a 5-1 due to injuries. The Wheelers struggled with 6 kills and hit -.129. The served well at 93.5% but only finished with 3 aces. The back row fought hard, averaging 11 digs per set in the 3-0 loss on the road.

            Jaci Christensen led the team with 3 kills and was second on the team with 7 digs. Kylee Hartl had a team high 14 digs and Sienna Albertsen had 5 digs. Aleah Hermansen paced the team with 3 assists.

            The loss drops the Wheelers to 8-11 overall and 0-6 in the Western Iowa Conference. The Wheelers have lost three straight matches. Treynor improved to 15-5 overall and 6-0 in the WIC. Audubon heads to AHSTW on Tuesday and the Vikings are 20-7 overall and 1-4 in league play.
