Kuemper had their best match of the season at the service line and made quick work of Creston. The Knights won all three sets by double digits and nearly won two sets by holding the Panthers to single digits. Kuemper served 95.8%, finishing with 3 aces but they kept Creston out of system. Kuemper was effective in every aspect of the game, averaging 13 digs per set and hitting .432 at the net.
The middle duo of Sophie Badding and Frannie Glynn each had 10 kills while Kamryn Venner added 9, Kenzie Schon 7 and Kaci Peter finished with 6 kills on a balanced night at the net. Ashlyn Badding finished with 38 assists and had 1 of their 3 aces with Kenzie Schon garnering the other 2 aces. Kenya Prescott had a team high 13 digs, Ashlyn Badding and Melinda Schaefer each had 7 digs. Frannie Glynn, Kaci Peter, Sophie Badding all had 2 blocks.
The win improves Kuemper to 18-6 overall and 5-2 in the Hawkeye 10 Conference. The Knights host Shenandoah next Tuesday.

After five close sets Tuesday night, the Carroll Tigers were able to get past the Ballard Bombers and get win number 10 on the season.
While set one ended with a close 25-21 win for Carroll, the Tigers played well by getting good serves and strong attacks that lead to crucial points in the end. Set two ended with the same amount of points and the same outcome, a win for Carroll. The Tigers started off the set up 3-0, but Ballard was able to tie up the set at 5-5, and later 6-6. Carroll had close calls where Ballard almost tied up the set again, but Carroll held on to the lead at 7-6 and 10-9. Ballard used a late 8-2 run to get within three points of tying the set at 24-21, but Carroll was able to call an end to the set at 25-21.

Ballard turned the tides in set three by going back and forth with Carroll. In total, set three had 13 ties with Carroll for the majority of the set breaking the tie and taking back the lead. The Tigers lead 2-0 to start off the set, with Ballard quickly matching them at 2-2, 3-3, 4-4, and 6-6. Carroll’s largest lead was at 12-9 and before long, Ballard tied up the set again at 12-12 off a 3-0 run. The Tigers continued to grab the lead, but was unable to get away from Ballard’s tying point, ultimately leading to a 22-22 standstill late in the set. The Bombers rallied late and used a 3-0 run to take set three 25-22. Set four featured a lot less ties, but was mostly dominated by Ballard. The Tigers started off the set with a 5-1 run that was later matched by Ballard at 10-10. The Bombers were able to stay a point or two ahead of Carroll for the majority of the set, until Carroll eventually tied it up at 20-20 and 21-21. Once Ballard got ahead 23-22, they pushed ahead for the final two points to take the set four win 25-22.
Set five had fans on the edge of their seats as it featured four more ties and another close contest between Carroll and Ballard. Both teams started off the set with a standstill at 1-1, 2-2, 3-3, and 6-6, but once the Tigers grabbed the 7-6 lead, they were able to stay ahead for good. Ballard came close to another tie down 8-7, but Carroll was continually ahead due to Ballard’s attacking errors. The Tigers pushed ahead with strong serves and attacks, and eventually Josie Ayala scored the game winning point for Carroll off a Ballard dig that went into the rafters, giving the Tigers the set five win 15-10 and the match win in sets 3-2.
Individually for the Tigers, Ayala led the team with 14 kills, while Chloe Ludwig gave her team opportunities in her serves to stay in the game as she recorded five aces. The Tigers improved to 10-9 on the season and will be in action next on Saturday, September 25th where they will travel to take part in the Nevada Invitational tournament.

Audubon battled hard splitting the first two sets with the Eagles but struggled with a new offense over the final two sets and fell to 8-9 on the season and 0-4 in the Western Iowa Conference. The Wheelers were forced to run a new offense due to injuries and will continue to work on adjusting to it.
Jaci Christensen and Aleah Hermansen led the Wheelers up front with 8 kills and 6 kills respectively. Addie Hocker did a nice job spreading the ball around and had 13 assists. Kylee Hartl continues to work hard in the back row with a team high 19 digs, followed by Aleah Hermansen with 13 digs and Jaci Christensen with 8 digs. Audubon finished with 7 blocks with Hermansen and Kali Irlmeier each with 2.

The Ar-We-Va Rockets fought hard all game long, but fell short against Exira-EHK Tuesday night in four sets.
In set one the Spartans were in control for most of the set, but Ar-We-Va had some offensive attacks that went their way, but they dropped set one 25-13. The Rockets in set two started to shine as they were able to pull away with a 25-20 win. All around Ar-We-Va’s players were making athletic plays, with four players recording double digit digs with Maggie Ragaller leading the team with 23, and Kora Obrecht being the leader in kills with 13 on the night. Set three was close all around, with Ar-We-Va continuing to ride their momentum from set two. Ultimately, it was the Spartans who picked up the set win 25-20. Set four looked similar to set one with the Spartans in control, but the Rockets hanging in until the end. It was Exira-EHK who pulled out the set four win 25-14, defeating Ar-We-Va in four sets 3-1.
Ar-We-Va Head Coach Darin Schurke says this game was the most aggressive he’s seen his girls play. He adds they went up to hit the ball and made great contact at times, but they still needed to limit the other team’s runs and sustain some of their own scoring runs. The Rockets continue their week with a match against Rolling Valley Conference foe Boyer Valley on Thursday, September 23rd.

South Central Calhoun stepped out of conference on Tuesday and picked up a pair of convincing wins. The Titans swept both matches and only had one set that was let than a five point win. The Titans cruised by Panorama in their 1st match of the night before taking a tough 1st set against Greene County and winning the 2nd set by 7 points. The wins improve the Titans to 15-13 on the season.
Riley Batta was outstanding at the net in both matches finishing with 10 kills in each match to lead the Titans both times. Brenna McAlister, Mollie Monahan and Keira Hammen each had 4 kills against Panorama while McAlister finished her night with 6 kills against Greene County. Jayci Graeve had 13 assists in the opening match, adding 20 more in the win over Greene County. Kylee Schleisman was consistent in the back row with 5 digs in each match. Riley Batta added 5 digs vs Greene County and Jayci Graeve had a team high 6 digs vs Greene County. Schleisman, Batta, Sayer Steig and Keira Hammen all had 2 aces vs Panorama.
The Titans head to Pocahontas on Thursday to face a pair of Twin Lakes Conference foes in Pocahontas Area and SE Valley.

Paton Churdan played just their 4th match of the season and fell to 1-3 overall against a CAM Anita team that improved to 8-6 overall. The young Rockets continue to work and grow and played their best set in the match opener. The battled hard in set two before falling in 3 sets. The Cougars improved to 2-1 in the Rolling Valley Conference while Paton Churdan slipped to 0-2.
Emma Stream had her best match of the season at the net with a team high 5 kills, Megan Palmer added 3 kills. Taryn Fisher led the Rockets with 5 digs, Carmyn Paup, Emma Stream and Paige Teeples all had 4 digs. Teeples also led the team with 2 of their 6 aces.
The Rockets are home again on Thursday when they host Exira-EHK.

IKM-Manning was tested Tuesday as they gained game experience in their loss to Treynor.
While the set scores tell a different story, the Wolves were competitive from start to finish. IKM-Manning battled in set one, but ultimately dropped the set 25-14. Trynor in set two continued to bring their strong offensive attacks to IKM-Manning as the Cardinals took set two 25-13. Set three was a lot closer and a lot better for the Wolves. IKM-Manning’s offense was working well, but Trynor got the slight edge and were able to take set three 25-18 and win the match.
Individually for IKM-Manning, Bianca Cadwell led the team with 8 kills and had good assistance from Amber Halbur who recorded 12 assists. Cadwell and Jaci Christensen kept the Wolves in the game with their combined 15 digs, seven for Cadwell and eight for Christensen. IKM-Manning will be in action on Thursday, September 23rd with a match against Western Iowa Conference foe Audubon.
