MVAO-COU at Kuemper

Kuemper 49

MVAO-COU   6

The Kuemper Knights got back to .500 with a dominant win over MVAO-COU.

From start to finish, Kuemper was dominant on both sides of the ball. Cooper Pottebaum started off the scoring for the Knights with a one-yard plunge into the touchdown, giving Kuemper the 7-0 lead. From the Rams 35 yard line, Copper Pottebaum found Dennis Vonnahme downfield for the touchdown, extending the Kuemper lead to 14-0 going into the second quarter. Cooper Pottebaum got the offense going at the start of the second quarter where he took the ball 30-yard for a touchdown and on the next offensive drive, Nate Overmohle grabbed a 30-yard receiving touchdown, giving Kuemper the 28-0 lead. The Knight’s defense forced another punt for MVAO-COU, giving the Knights the ball on the Rams 42 yard line. Finishing that offensive drive was Taye Vonnahme who ran in a five-yard touchdown, giving the Knights a huge 35-0 lead going into halftime.

Kuemper in the third quarter started off great again on offense with Dennis Vonnahme finding Kolby Lampman in the endzone for a 10-yard touchdown, giving Kuemper the 42-0 lead. On the next Kuemper offensive drive, Dennis Vonnahme got his team to the one yard line in the red zone, allowing Jared Hausman to punch it in for a touchdown and giving his team a 49-0 lead. In the final minute of play in the fourth quarter, the Rams were able to find the endzone for their first score of the game, but Kuemper’s large lead was more than enough to nab them win number two on the season over MVAO-COU.

Carroll At Storm Lake

Carroll 27

Storm Lake 14

Carroll won their third straight and started the district 1-0 with a satisfying road win. The Tigers nearly doubled the Tornados in yardage in the 1st half in building a 14-0 lead. Both teams took advantage of special teams woes to score touchdowns. Carroll’s defense was really sharp in the 1st half and played well in the 2nd half in only giving up one score.

The Tigers struck first, after punting on their 1st two possessions, Ethan Lengeling snuck in from the 1-yard line to put them up 7-0 late in the 1st quarter. Storm Lake fumbled the kickoff and Carroll took advantage, Cooper Ludwig scored on a two yard run, extending the Tigers lead to 14-0 with 10:19 left 1st half. The game stayed that way until half. Carroll moved the ball but didn’t finish drives while Storm Lake struggled to penetrate Carroll territory.

Ethan Lengeling hit Zach Dirkx for a 34-yard touchdown midway through the 3rd quarter and Carroll built a 20-0 lead. The Tigers defense forced a punt but Carroll turned it over on offense and Storm Lake scored on an interception, making it 20-7 with 6:27 left in the 3rd quarter. Lengeling found Dirkx again, this time from 39-yards and Carroll went ahead 27-7 midway through the 4th quarter. Carroll defense forced another punt but on Carroll’s next possession they were forced to punt and a bad snap set up the Tornados inside the Carroll 10 yard line. IKM-Manning 49

Missouri Valley   8

IKM-Manning grabbed a dominant win over Missouri Valley Friday night, avenging their loss from the week prior.

The Wolves started their night with a great offensive drive that went 60 yards and was capped by Nolan Ramsey finding Cooper Irlmeier for a touchdown to lead 7-0. The Wolves defense was going to work in this quarter, starting with Hunter Smith picking off the Big Reds and Trey Jasa recovering Missouri Valley’s second fumble of the night, which turned into another touchdown pass from Ramsey, this time to Smith from 26 yards out, giving IKM-Manning the 28-0 lead. Missouri Valley had chances to drive down the field, but the Wolves defense was too much to handle and the Big Reds turned over the ball on downs twice.
