Carroll hung close for most of the night but North Polk serve kept Carroll out of system enough for the Comets to pull away in each of the final 3 sets. Carroll falls to 4-4 overall and 1-1 in the Raccoon River Conference while North Polk improved to 12-3 overall and 2-0 in the Raccoon River Conference. Set one was tight early with 5 lead changes before Carroll grabbed the lead for good on an Alyssa Brant service run. Carroll trailed 7-6 but used a 4-0 run to get up 10-7. North Polk tied the set at 10 and again at 14 but were never able to grab the lead. The Tigers stretched the lead to 8 and won 25-18. The first set finished with 5 lead changes and 9 ties. Set two had 3 early lead changes and was tied 5 times but the last tie came at 6. The Comets used a 8-0 run to lead 14-6 and Carroll tried to battle back but got as close as 5 but never cut under that. North Polk owned the 3rd set, getting out 4-0 and leading 10-4 early. Carroll fought and pulled within 12-10 but North Polk pulled away and went on to win by 11. The Tigers didn’t quit and came out fighting in the 4th set, after trailing 3-0 they tied the set at 5, 7, 9 and 10 but the last tie was at 17. The Comets opened up the lead with a 3-0 run and though Carroll pulled within 1 they never tied it again and North Polk stretched the lead to 5 before ending the match on a kill.

Josie Ayala and Alyssa Brant finished in double digits in kills with Ayala finishing with 12 and Brant 10. Camryn Schable, Alexia Thornock and Chloe Ludwig all finished with 5 kills. Kaitlyn Tigges had 33 of the teams 36 assists. Hannah Jorgensen had a solid night in the back row with 21 digs, Josie Ayala added 8, Kaitlyn Tigges 7 and Madison Tunning had 6. The Tigers had 5 blocks with Josie Ayala and Alexia Thornock each having 2. Alyssa Brant had 4 of the Tigers 8 aces.

Kuemper picked up a pair of wins in the Hawkeye 10 on Tuesday sweeping the matches with Denison Schleswig and Clarinda. The Knights were perfect, winning all 6 sets and only giving up 15 or more points in 3 of the 6 sets they played. They held Denison Schleswig to 9 in the opening set win and weren’t pushed until the final set, winning by 4. Kuemper hit .333 against Denison Schleswig with 42 kills on 87 attempts. Kuemper had 13 attack attempts in each of the first two sets and 16 attempts in the final set. They finished with 6 aces and 8 service errors.
Kuemper finished the night cap against Clarinda with a .309 hitting percentage with 41 kills. The Knights had five players with 7 or more kills in the match. They finished with 5 aces and 7 service errors. Clarinda scored in double digits in all 3 sets but never scored more than 17 points in a set. The two wins improve Kuemper to 6-4 overall and 2-2 in the Hawkeye 10 Conference.
Kenzie Schon, Kamryn Venner and Kaci Peter had big matches at the net against Denison Schleswig. Schon led the way with 15 kills while Venner added 10 and Peter had 9 kills. Ashlyn Badding finished with 37 assists and Kenya Prescott led the back row with 16 digs. Frannie Glynn paced Kuemper at the net against Clarinda with 10 kills, Kamryn Venner added 9 , Sophie Badding 8 and Kaci Peter and Kenzie Schon each had 7. Ashlyn Badding had 38 assists and Kenya Prescott had 18 digs to lead the back row.
Kuemper heads to the South Central Calhoun Tournament in Rockwell City on Saturday.

Audubon grabbed a strong 3-0 win over ACGC Tuesday to record win number five on the season.
Audubon had to work hard for those three set wins, as the Chargers came within striking distance of taking the lead. The Wheelers managed to win set one 25-17 and had to work hard to win set two 25-18. The duo of Aleah Hermansen and Mattie Nielsen worked well for Audubon; Hermansen recorded 12 assists while Nielsen went up and got 14 kills on the night. ACGC continued to apply pressure on the Wheelers, but Audubon was able to squeeze past the Chargers in set three by a score of 25-21 to win the match.
As a team, Audubon recorded 27 kills, 10 blocks, and 29 digs. Addie Hocker helped out with nine assists; Hermansen, Nielsen, and Jaci Christensen all recorded two aces each. Audubon improves to 5-3 on the season overall. The Wheelers cap off the week with another road game on Thursday, September 9th against Riverside.
